The first result of this magnificent crusade, headed up by David Cameron (Conservative) and Nick Clegg (LibDem) was that the first man David Laws, a multi-millionaire, empowered with the vital role of 'Chief Secretary to the Treasury' resigned after being found to have provided thousands of pounds of public money, in rent, to a secret boyfriend. And the second, Danny Alexander, who stepped into his shoes was found to have avoided capital gains tax, on a tax payer (publically funded) second home he sold for a profit. 'Leading by example' and a clean sweep after the terrible years, which have recently been exposed, in which most of the political class had their heads in the trough, still seems to be a redundant ideal! + 62 X £209 = THE ESTIMATED AMOUNT MR ALEXANDER'S WIFE USED FROM 'PUBLIC FUNDS' TO TRAVEL 62 TIMES BETWEEN LONDON AND SCOTLAND.......? TONY BLAIR BUYS NINTH HOUSE 'FOR CASH' AND IN PROCESS OF BUYING 10TH --------------------- One specific area, which is quite rightly under review, is that of Defence. As our eager, fresh faced, and very excited new democratic representatives mingle with those still around from the old guard, together with senior military figures from the Army, Navy and Airforce, it may help if they all pause, allocate some quality time from their busy agendas, and read a book written in 2006 by author Harold Evans. Then, and only then, should any of them attempt to do anything remotely associated with this task and when they feel the urge to meddle (which they will) they should also clearly remember that every bad decison taken, has the ability to directly, or indirectly, cause the death of a man, or woman, defending their clossetted lifestyles and our very fragile country. 28TH AUGUST 2010 It's been reported in the Daily Telegraph newspaper that Russian submarines have suddenly taken an interest in British submarines and are a threat! Now call me a mite cynical, but doesn't it seem a bit of a coincidence that slap bang in the middle of an intensive defense review, in which all three services are desperately vying to get the most they can out of the very limited funds still available, that this ever present threat suddenly becomes a 'new threat'. I am now waiting for the Royal Airforce to provide a close up image of a Russian aircraft intruding into British Airspace (of course it could possibly be another old enemy ...the French) and for the Army to suddenly spot massed formations of T-95 tanks about to invade Germany exactly, and very stupidly, where any remaining British forces still linger. From within a virtually bankrupt cult society, built on paranoia, a constant game of political and military poker is played with the outside world. Kim Jong-il - The Dear Leader offers ever changing carrots on the end of an ever extending stick to his adverseries, namely those of South Korea and America, in an attempt to obtain hard currency and aid whilst at the same time permitting seemingly nonsensical and random acts of dangerous oneupmanship to keep them off-balance. Whether he directly ordered the sinking of the South Korean corvette Cheonan or whether hardline military and political hawks powerful enough to do so, without his authority, allowed the torpedo involved to smash the vessel in two is unknown but what is now fact is that in this particular card game he or they may have seriously misunderstood the consequences of their actions. With surrounding countries such as Japan having a vested interest in supporting South Korea (in order to contain North Korea) and with China (North Korea's ally) now in the unenviable position of trying to be seen as a modern, outward looking society with whom the world can do business, it maybe that North Korea is about to have the reality check of all 'reality checks' as China is unable to defend the sinking of a ship and the deaths which occurred without losing credibility. The opposition consists of, on the one hand, disaffected youth who have no interest in Ahmadinejads government (accused by many of fixing the last election) who simply want the freedom of expression and lifestyle they percieve in more liberal countries, right through to so called 'moderates' consisting of political and religous opposition figures. It is also possible that in order to decrease the problems facing him, Ahmadinejad may instigate a situation whereby outside forces are seen to be threatening Iran in the hope that he can unite the country under the flag of patriotism. In real terms this could well mean that completely opposing forces, currently attempting to destroy each other will combine to fight a common foe! However, with the threat of Iran developing nuclear weapons reaching crisis point this possibility may simply be ignored as outside forces carry out attacks on stategic sites, associated with their production, before it is considered to late to put the 'genie back in the bottle'.
